DTC is a resident company of the AT&T Performing Arts Center and presents its mainstage season at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre. Public Relations Manager

Dallas Theater Center seeks a year-round energetic, experienced, and dedicated individual to lead its public relations programs.  The ideal candidate will have 5+ years experience managing public and media relations programs for non-profit or entertainment organizations. Candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and superior organizational and task management skills. The ability to manage a variety of projects and activities on a daily basis in a fast-paced, fluid environment is essential.


The public relations manager will generate all press releases and media advisories, serve as the primary media contact for the company, and secure press coverage on a local, regional and national level.  Working closely with artistic, education, development, marketing, and other internal departments, the public relations manager is responsible for the conceptualization and execution of all Dallas Theater Center public relations initiatives. Properties Artisan

Dallas Theater Center, LORT C with an $8.5 million annual budget, producing 7 shows in 3 spaces, seeks qualified Artisan to assist the Properties Master on a 4 person team for the 2010-11 season and beyond.  A successful candidate will have a great sense of design, and ability to interpret design vision.  Individual should be an adept organizer, be a self starter, and be able to work independently.  Candidate should be an enthusiastic researcher, an internet rock star, and possess a positive, energetic nature.  Candidate must also have excellent skills in a wide variety of property creation, with primary emphasis on graphics and paper props, crafts, soft goods, drapery, upholstery, and small prop carpentry.  Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and Publisher is essential.  A minimum 2 years property experience in a regional setting or equivalent is required.  Portfolio work will be requested.  Own vehicle preferred.  Must be able to lift 50lbs. unassisted.  Year-round contract, starting August.  Competitive salary and benefits.  Letter, resume, and references to: Rich Gilles, DALLAS THEATER CENTER, 2400 Flora St., Dallas, TX 75201. ATD/Draftsperson

Dallas Theater Center, LORT C with $8.5m budget, seeks a full-time, year-round person to join a shop of 4 people.  Seven show season includes plays, musicals, annual A Christmas Carol, co-pros, and new work in three performance venues (including the brand new Wyly Theatre). Successful candidate will have significant demonstrated experience in scenery construction, rigging, carpentry.  Full command of AutoCAD essential, with Windows, Excel, and Vectorworks helpful.  Organized, efficient, team player, with sense of humor, valid driver’s license, love of barbeque and puns, and 2-3 years of similar experience gets the gig.  Perks include working in a well-equipped 27,000 square foot shop and no state income tax. Manager of Events

The Manager of Events reports to the Director of Development and manages all aspects of event planning and execution for Dallas Theater Center. Responsibilities include creation of events calendar, timeline, and strategies for all DTC events; management of detailed events budget; oversight of gala event details. In addition to working with DTC staff, this position also works directly with DTC event volunteers and Board of Trustees.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with Director of Development to create a master calendar for events.
  • Work with other departments to plan and implement events.
  • Create weekly financial reports to track expenses.
  • Work with Director of Development to create goals and strategies for gala and other fundraising events.
  • Oversee implementation of budget for events and work to meet budget expense goals.
  • Oversee timeline of tasks associated with events.
  • Maintain accurate event records.
  • Develop relationships with area event vendors.
  • Work with Director of Development to coordinate print materials for events.
  • Help to recruit volunteer chairs of events and volunteer committees.
  • Plan and execute events as membership benefits.
  • Work with Associate Director of Corporate Relations to secure in-kind sponsorships for events.
  • Serve as liaison to DTC Guild to provide information and support.
  • Work with all Departments to support all hospitality needs for meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.


SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills.
  • Strong ability to evaluate immediate needs for accomplishing urgent matters.
  • Strong comprehensive knowledge of event planning.


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
A minimum of two years of event management experience  Experience in the performing arts industry is preferred.

Bachelor’s Degree required.

Stage Management Observers


Dallas Theater Center seeks Stage Management Observers for the 2010-2011 season. SM Observers will assist the Stage Management staff and have the opportunity to observe and participate in DTC rehearsals and tech rehearsals. This a volunteer position and it is best suited, but not limited, to those interested in pursuing Stage Management as a career. Appropriate applicants may seek professional internship credit with his/her current college or university (as appropriate). There are multiple openings for this position. Scheduling is part time, flexible and may be short or long term, but a commitment is required.
